RULES and REGULATIONS

4-H Club Members and Sumner County Youth Under Age 18

No “out of county” Youth are Eligible

If Only One Entry, First Place Will be Given

 

SPECIAL NOTICE

(1.) Do not bring articles exhibited in this Fair in previous years.

(2.)Only one entry per each lot number listed

(3.)All entries should have the name and address attached in an inconspicuous place.

(4.)All entries must be entered between 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Monday.  CONTESTANTS entering LARGE NUMBERS of items (20 or more items per family) MUST ARRIVE BY 6:15 p.m. in order to meet the time deadline.  Judging will be Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.

(5.)Baking entries may be entered from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.  Baked goods may be taken immediately after judging.

(6.)Entries should be picked up Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Every effort should be made to pick up entries at this time.  Items left may be destroyed.

(7.)All premium checks will be forfeited if not cashed with 30 days after being issued.

(8.)Sumner County Farm Bureau will give trophies to youths with most participation as follows:

(a.) Youths through Grade 6 last year – trophy.

(b.) Youths Grades 7 through 9 last year – trophy.

(c.) Youths Grades 10 through 12 last year – trophy.

Jr. High and Sr. High 4-H’ers are encouraged to enter an exhibit reflecting their 4-H projects.  The exhibit must not be larger than 3 posters – 14” x 22”, in an upright, tri-fold, free-standing position.  All items must be mounted on tri-fold.  No free-standing item.  No more than 4 exhibits per individual.  If only one entry, first place will be given.

CLASS 06 – Crafts

CLASS 06A – Wood (all grades)

( Maximum size 18” X 18”)

CLASS 06B – Nature (all grades)

(14” x 22” or smaller)

CLASS 06C – Models & Electric (all grades)

(Models must be smaller than 18” x 18” x 18”)

CLASS 06D – Construction Crafts

(No larger than 30” x 30” x 30”)

 

CLASS 07 – Baking

Baking entries should be entered between 10:00 a.m. an 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

All baking entries should be completely covered with a clear cellophane paper when entered and entrant’s name and address should be attached to the underside of the plate.

Baked goods may be made from scratch or from a mix

If only one entry, first place will be given.

Pick up all entries by Noon.  Unclaimed entries will be discarded.

Premium checks will be given out following judging, or can be claimed Sunday between 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

2. Participants must have made the garment being modeled.

3. Participants will model and will be judged in their grade level cluster as of January 1, this Year.

4. Participants may enter only one lot in Clover Style Show.

First Place winners in each grade (except 4th Grade) will be expected to compete at the District contest at the Tennessee State Fair in September.

RULES & REGULATIONS

4-H & YOUTH SHEEP SHOW

1. All general rules for the Junior Livestock Exposition will apply to this show,

       except as noted below.

2. Each exhibitor will be allowed to exhibit up to two sheep per class, with a

maximum of four (4) Market Lambs and four (4) Commercial Ewes per exhibitor.

3. Only Sumner County 4-H Members & Youth will be allowed to participate.

       (Except Pee Wee Showmanship). 

CLASS 04  WOOL & WOOLIES REVUE

 

TUESDAY, August 4, 2009

Registration:  6:00 p.m.; Show:  6:30 p.m.

 

Committee:  Clint Parker, Extension Director

 

The objective of this activity is to present a class of sheep in the most attractive manner, to give spectators an opportunity to view young people modeling wool garments while leading the wool producer, and to provide an opportunity for young people to develop poise.

 

1. All contestants must be under 18 years of age as of January 1, this year, and an active 4-H club member (with the exception of pre-4-h’ers who are 4th Grade and Under).

2. Each entrant must wear a garment made of wool or a wool blend.  The garment does not have to be constructed by the entrant.

3. The following standards will be used when judging the lasses:

Entrant’s Garment (40%)

Poise and Appearance (30%)

Control and Presentation of Sheep (30%)

4. Contestants should report for preliminaries and orientation at approximately 5:00 p.m. in the Sheep Barn.  The show will begin at approximately 6:00 p.m.

First Place winners in each lot will be expected to compete at the Tennessee State Fair.
